During the year we have a number of club events for member to participate in.
At the End of March our club hosted members from the South Canterbury Bonsai Club to several of our member’s bonsai collections These include visits from (or to) other Bonsai Clubs, tree collecting, bonsai pot making.
In Autum (think it was May) a group of us went over to Craigieburn on the Christchurch/West Coast road to collect wilding pines. These trees had been planted some years ago when acid rain was a defoliant in the northern hemisphere. They were to provide seeds to be sent to replace those trees destroyed by the acid rain but when the acidity of the rain decreased the project was never carried out.
Bonsai Pot Making
A highlight of our club year is the making of accent / mahmai bonsai pots. This allow members to express their artist ability in a different way. Thank you Bev for glazing and firing the pots.
